The K18 Leave-in restorative hair mask is suitable for every hair type. Thanks to the unique K18Peptide, it intensely repairs hair, strengthening and improving its elasticity in just 4 minutes. The intensive leave-in treatment also softens and detangles hair.

When we think of hair, the easiest comparison is with many different types of ladders that are twisted to form the keratin chain. These ladders stay in place as a result of connections. They are therefore held together and are present in the cortex, medulla and scales. When this ladder is damaged, it is not the individual runners that break, but it is the entire ladder that breaks along with the runners and all the connections between the ladders that are held together.

Every chemical treatment breaks down the keratin chains that hold the hair together and make it strong. K18 hair mask permanently reconnects the broken keratin chains. Thus, it penetrates the cortex and the mask attaches sulphur bonds to the sides of the ladder. Thus, broken keratin chains are reconnected. The hair is now repaired and restored as if it were new.

The ingredient K18Peptide is a unique sequence of amino acids that penetrates the hair strand and restores the sulphur bridges, damaged both in the hair salon and at home. Before using the K18 leave-in mask, your hair should be clean. If you use a lot of styling products and/or heavy products with oils or silicones, this can cause a layer to remain on your hair, preventing the K18 mask from being absorbed optimally.

In the shower

Wash your hair with shampoo, do not use conditioner before treating with K18.

After the shower

  • Make your hair towel-dry.
  • Start with 1 pump of the K18 mask and then use more if needed. The amount depends on the length, thickness and condition of your hair.
  • Spread the mask evenly in the hair from the roots to the roots, one pump at a time. (Rather too little, than too much)
  • Let the mask soak for 4 minutes to allow the peptide to do its job.
  • Do not wash out the K18 mask.
  • Style your hair as usual.

The researchers at K18 spent years meticulously scanning the entire proteome of keratin to analyse and test every sequence of amino acids and peptides that make up the hair's keratin. They wanted to determine if they were able to connect this naturally and in the most effective way. This unique structure and composition makes K18 a biomimetic peptide whose entire library is encoded in the keratin genome and with many global patents. 

It feels at home in your hair and mimics the unique structure that reconnects the keratin in your hair. Unfortunately, hair cannot repair itself because it does not contain living cells to make this particular keratin peptide, so K18 happens to be the next best thing to restoring your damaged hair to an almost natural state of strength and elasticity. Why can't I use a conditioner?

You can. K18 does not recommend using a conditioner before treatment with K18. A conditioner leaves a layer that prevents the peptide from penetrating effectively. Once the 4-minute waiting period is over, you can use a conditioner, leave-in or other product.

How often should I use the K18 mask?

The K18 mask is an innovative and effective treatment made to be used 4-6 washes in a row. After that, use the mask every 3-4 washes to keep hair healthy.

Can I use too much of the K18 mask?

The K18 mask is a concentrated treatment. To avoid overuse, we recommend using the mask 4-6 washes in a row. After that, every 3-4 washes to keep hair as healthy as possible. And remember: less is more.

Why should you leave the K18 mask in your hair?

The K18 mask is most effective as a leave-in treatment, as the mask works at the core of the hair.

Visible hair improvement. Have been using it for a few weeks now and I definitely notice a difference!
The only disadvantage is that it is quite pricey. But after a color treatment I use it for 4 washes as recommended and then once or twice a week, which makes it economical to use.

First use showed mild hair shaft quality improvement. It is still too early to provide an experienced review, but will continue with recommended application guideline. The product is costly and hopefully there will be some price reductions that make the product more affordable, even if it would only be for higher-volume containers.

My hair feels softer, is easy to comb after showering and easy to style. I'll have to wait and see whether I can notice any long-term effects, for now it doesn't do wonders for the world, but it's a nice extra step for the finishing touches in your haircare routine.

The product really works! But your hair must be really damaged. My hair was damaged and became very fine due to bleaching, but with k18 it is thicker and healthier again. Even my hairdresser noticed that.
